Custom Toy Boxes

Toy packaging is judged twice: once by a retail buyer deciding whether it merchandises well, and once by a child or parent deciding whether it looks worth the price. Packadex builds custom toy boxes for retail lines, activity kits, and collectibles.

Windows, Blisters, and Showing the Product Toys sell better when the product is visible. A die-cut window with clear PET film is the simplest approach and keeps the item boxed and secure. Blister trays hold the product against the window so it stays presented rather than sliding to the bottom of the box.

The tradeoff is that windows weaken the panel they are cut into. On larger boxes we compensate with a heavier board or an internal support, which we work out at structural proof stage rather than after the first case gets crushed in transit.

Board Weight and Retail Handling Toy boxes take more physical abuse than most retail packaging. They are handled repeatedly on shelf, stacked in cases, and often shipped individually through ecommerce as well.

SBS folding carton is fine for lighter items. For anything with weight, E-flute corrugated gives you the crush resistance without much added thickness. Rigid board is reserved for collectibles and limited editions where the box is part of what is being collected; see our rigid boxes for that construction.

Activity and STEM Kits Multi-piece kits need compartments, or the pieces mix in transit and the product arrives looking disorganized. We build fitted paperboard trays and dividers sized to each component. For kits where the box doubles as the play surface or storage, we specify a heavier board and a lid that survives repeated opening.

Hang Tabs and Peg Display If the product hangs on a peg rather than sitting on a shelf, the box needs a hang tab: either a die-cut euro slot in the board or an applied plastic tab. Euro slots are cleaner and fully recyclable but need reinforcement on heavier items. Tell us the product weight and we will specify which will hold.

Safety and Compliance Marking Toy packaging carries required marking that varies by market, including age grading, choking hazard warnings, and regional conformity marks. As with all regulated categories, we lay out panel space for this copy before the brand artwork so it does not get squeezed at the last minute. Confirming that your marking meets the requirements of each market you sell into is your responsibility.
