Custom jewelry boxes have to do two jobs at once: hold a small, high-value item completely still in transit, and justify the price on the tag the moment the customer opens it. Choosing Between Rigid and Folding Carton Rigid boxes are made from thick chipboard, typically 1.2mm to 3mm, wrapped in printed or specialty paper. They do not fold flat, they cost more to ship, and they feel substantially more expensive in the hand. This is what most brands use for engagement rings, fine jewelry, and anything sold above roughly $150.

Folding cartons are printed on SBS or kraft board, ship flat, and cost a fraction as much per unit. For fashion jewelry, subscription pieces, and wholesale jewelry packaging where volume matters more than ceremony, a well-finished folding carton with a fitted insert does the job. Many brands run both: rigid for the flagship line, cartons for everything else.

Inserts Are the Part That Matters A jewelry box without a proper insert is a box where the necklace arrives in a knot. We die-cut inserts to your exact piece dimensions in several materials. Foam wrapped in fabric gives the classic slotted ring or earring hold. Velvet-covered board suits pendant and bracelet presentation. Plain paperboard inserts are the low-cost, fully recyclable option, and they work well for flat items like chains and studs when the cavity is cut correctly.

Send us the piece, or its dimensions, and we cut the cavity around it. This is also where most of the protection comes from, so it is worth getting right before you commit to a print run.

Finishing That Reads as Premium Foil stamping is the single highest-impact finish on a small box: a gold or silver logo on matte laminated board carries most of the perceived value. Blind embossing, where the logo is pressed into the board with no ink, is quieter and works well for minimal brands. Soft-touch lamination changes how the box feels before the customer even opens it.

Ordering and Minimums Minimum order quantity starts around 100 units, which lets smaller jewelry brands run a real branded box rather than buying blank stock. Rigid boxes take longer than cartons because the wrapping is a separate operation, so build extra lead time into launch dates. Every order includes a free digital proof, and we recommend a physical sample for rigid work since board thickness and wrap texture do not read accurately on screen.
