Custom Candy Boxes

Candy and chocolate packaging has a specific set of problems: the product is often soft, sometimes melts, is nearly always bought as a gift, and touches the board directly. Packadex builds food-safe custom candy boxes for confectioners, chocolatiers, and retail sweet brands.

Food-Safe Board and Direct Contact If the confectionery touches the box, the board and the inks have to be approved for direct food contact. We use food-grade SBS and greaseproof-lined stocks for that, and we will tell you when a design needs an inner liner or glassine wrap instead of direct contact.

This matters most with chocolate and anything containing oils, which migrate into unlined board and leave visible staining on the outside of the box within weeks. A grease barrier is not an upsell on those products; it is the difference between a box that looks right on the shelf and one that does not.

Assortment Boxes and Dividers A mixed chocolate box lives or dies on its insert. Fitted paperboard dividers or vacuum-formed cavity trays hold each piece in position so the assortment reads as intended when the lid comes off, and so soft centres do not press against each other in transit.

Windows and Shelf Appeal Die-cut windows sell confectionery, because shoppers want to see the product. We fit windows with clear PET film as standard, or PLA film where you need a compostable-leaning spec. Windows do reduce the barrier the box provides against light and humidity, so for chocolate in warm markets we usually recommend keeping the window small or skipping it.

Seasonal and Gift Runs Much of confectionery volume is seasonal, which means short runs with hard deadlines. Our minimums start around 100 units, so a limited holiday structure is viable without committing to annual volume. Build in time for a physical sample on any seasonal design with foil or specialty finishes, because those are the details most likely to surprise you on press.
